Road Closure on 8/3 for Cobb Avenue due to Rooftop Unit Replacement at 290 Siegel Recreation Center Aug 3, 2026 07:00 - Aug 7, 2026 19:00 EDT

Impact Details: 
Description & Location: The HVAC Rooftop Unit system replacement for the Siegel Recreation Center will involve closing down a section of Cobb Avenue, specifically in the area between Siegel Recreation Center and the Campus Green. Sports & Recreation will coordinate internal building access, while Plant Operations will assist with the road closure.
Schedule: Work for this project will begin early Monday morning, August 3, and continue through the evening of Friday, August 7. The crane lift operation will occur only on Monday, August 3, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and during this period Cobb Avenue will be fully closed. For the remainder of the week, Cobb Avenue will reopen; however, please use caution when traveling through the area, as additional work vehicles and personnel will be present while roof work is underway.
Reason: The road closure is necessary to provide safe and unobstructed access to the recreation center’s rooftop for the crane lift operation.
Logistics:  Sports & Recreation will be replacing three HVAC rooftop units on the north section of the lower roof of the recreation center. A crane will be stationed on Cobb Avenue to assist with the removal and installation of the units. Access to the affected section of the recreation center will be limited during the crane operation.

Major Water Outage Impacting Marietta Campus
Resolved - We are pleased to confirm that the water outage on the Marietta Campus has been resolved. Systems have been tested and are now fully operational. All services should be restored.

Identified - Current Known Impact & Information:

A waterline was damaged near the Globe during contractor work on new electrical lines. Plant Operations staff are on site evaluating the issue. At this time, the outage is impacting the majority of the Marietta Campus

This outage is affecting all water services including, restrooms, drinking fountains, dining areas, and labs.

A contractor is currently on site to repair the damaged lines, and repairs are expected to be completed sometime this evening.

Plant Operations is actively monitoring progress and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.

Investigating - Some users are currently reporting service issues with several Microsoft Services, which are listed below.

We've confirmed that multiple Microsoft 365 services are degraded, including but not limited to:
-Microsoft OneDrive - Access to OneDrive is intermittent.
-SharePoint Online - Error message, “Something went wrong”
-Microsoft Teams - Degraded chat functionality, including images not loading.
-Power Automate - Automate flows not loading.
-Copilot Chat - Intermittent delays or failures in any Copilot Chat action and query.
-Microsoft Loop - Unable to open or load Loop pages.

Microsoft is currently investigating these issues and working quickly to fix it.

Big Owl Bus service will be rerouted around this area during the work. Building entrances along Owl Drive at the Burruss Building and ALC will be blocked to prevent pedestrian traffic in the area of the crane lift.

Scheduled - Impact Details

Description & Location: Our designated elevator contractor will be on-site next week to perform the required five-year elevator testing. The building has two elevator locations, each with two elevator cabs. All elevator lobbies and elevator cabs involved in testing will be out of service during designated periods.

Schedule: Thursday, July 16 through Friday, July 17, approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.

Reason: This outage is necessary to complete mandated five-year elevator testing.

Logistics: Each morning, technicians will begin with a drop test at one elevator location. During this test, both elevator cabs at that location will be out of service, and the ground floor lobby must remain clear. The drop test is expected to take 30 minutes to one hour and should be completed before 8:00 a.m. The second elevator location will remain fully operational during the drop test. After the morning drop test, testing will continue throughout the day with only one elevator cab out of service at a time, ensuring three elevators remain in service.

Investigating - Some users are currently experiencing issues with eTransact. Specifically, users may be unable to view their KCash and Dining Dollars balances within the eAccounts app.

At this time, Meal Plans, eTransact services, and KCash transactions remain fully operational. The issue is limited to the display of KCash and Dining Dollars balances in the eAccounts application.

The vendor and UITS are currently investigating these issues and working quickly to fix it.

Scheduled - Impact Details:

Description & Location: A contractor will be cleaning HVAC ducts above the ceilings throughout the building. They will be moving in and out of offices, hallways, and other rooms on all floors (1–2).

Schedule: From early morning Saturday, July 11, through Sunday evening, July 12

Reason: This work is necessary to clean and maintain the HVAC duct system.

Logistics: No preparation is required from occupants. The contractor will cover desks and furniture with plastic sheeting to protect surfaces from any debris and will clean all areas after the work is complete, if needed.
Please note that the HVAC system will be turned off on both Saturday and Sunday to support this work, which will result in elevated indoor temperatures during the project.
